About
I am a Professor of Cybersecurity at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, the university's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and member of the bwInfoSec steering committee. My research focuses on software security, offensive security testing, and reverse engineering.

In the classroom, I teach advanced cybersecurity topics such as digital forensics, mobile security, and software reverse engineering, though I enjoy teaching computer science fundamentals just as much.
Bridging the gap between academia and industry, I have been working full-time in the information security sector since 2007. Over the years, I have provided consulting services to corporations, large enterprises, and government agencies, while conducting numerous security assessments, penetration tests, and training courses. I am also an active practitioner who has discovered and responsibly disclosed a significant number of vulnerabilities in widely used software—including countless flaws in Apple’s operating systems and apps, as well as one of the most critical vulnerabilities WhatsApp ever had.
I regularly present my research in industry journals and at international conferences, including OWASP, DeepSec, Shakacon, the Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium, and IEEE Security & Privacy. Additionally, I am an author for heise, writing articles for heise online, c't, iX, and Mac & i.
I place great value on connecting people and building strong communities. As the lead of the OWASP Chapter Heilbronn, I organize regular meetups to foster exchange. I also host the annual Cybersecurity Days in Heilbronn in collaboration with the Stimme Mediengruppe and partners from the industry, and I am a frequent keynote speaker at various events.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, biking, and running—strictly in that order. I strictly adhere to the rule that the ideal number of bikes is n+1 😉.
I am looking forward to your contact.
